A little more about us...
We have a great team of truly local, friendly and enthusiastic staff.
Our office is in the North Devon village of Braunton, and we have staff elsewhere in Devon too, which means we are close to each of our properties, and visit and inspect them regularly so we can usually answer any questions guests may have.
It also means that everyone in the office knows the region really well and can make personal recommendations for guests that are based on our collective knowledge. Only a truly local agent can do that for you.
Letting properties is a partnership between the owner, the agent, and in many cases, the housekeeper. We understand and value the contribution each of us makes to this partnership, and work hard to get it right – that’s why our homeowners stay with us, some for over 30 years.

Our local teams have been equipped with all of the PPE necessary to continue visiting and servicing properties safely . Our photography teams have also adapted photoshoots, making them 'contact-free'.

We have made sure that we’re always available on the end of a phone or email, and the feedback from our homeowners has been fantastic – we, and they feel like our relationships have only strengthened during this time.

If you choose our Bespoke Managed Service, we can manage your property and be on site very quickly if we need to be. We have maintenance teams nearby who can respond to your needs very quickly too – and we know them personally so we know they will do a good job. That’s something you won’t get with a national agency with offices that are hundreds of miles from Devon.

There are fourteen of us in the team at Marsdens Devon Cottages, with six of us working on the phones, taking bookings, making recommendations and sorting out any queries that come up. The rest of us work on the property management or marketing side.

Extended hours phone line
Customers often book and pay online on our websites, but sometimes they prefer to talk to us.
Our Braunton office will take the calls during its opening hours between 9.00am – 5.30pm Monday to Friday and 9.00am to 4.00pm on Saturdays.
When the office is closed, or if all our lines are busy, calls will be answered by our friendly Sales Support Team. Lines are open from 8am to 8pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am to 6pm on Sunday – so there is always someone on hand to help our guests and capture those bookings!

We help maximise booking rates with our extensive and targeted marketing programme:
Two thirds of holiday cottage bookings come from our Websites, and so we put a lot of time and effort into ensuring that they are user-friendly, work across all devices, offer a quality experience, and enable secure payment for our guests.
Our website has excellent conversion rates, which means that people that view our holiday cottages actually book. All holiday cottages are also featured on our national website, www.Originalcottages.co.uk, as well as www.Lovecottages.co.uk, which features a large range of carefully selected holiday cottages from local agents. We also pay to list your holiday cottage on numerous affiliate websites, both in the UK and elsewhere across Europe, to ensure that your holiday cottage attains maximum exposure.
Our IT team work hard to ensure that we maintain our position in search engine results, and our marketing team use pay per click advertising where necessary.
We produce a lifestyle magazine, which showcases our Devon holiday cottages, as well as Devon as a destination. The magazine is distributed widely across Devon, as well as being available to order online.
We send both printed materials and email newsletters to our large customer database. These communications are high quality, informative and well targeted. Our marketing team track the progress of the campaigns, to ensure that they generate a high rate of bookings
We also actively engage with guests and other people with an interest in us via our social media channels; Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Google+. We encourage people to “like” us, “share” posts about us, and regularly run competitions to increase interest, and get more people following us. This has become another important tool to generate bookings.
Advertising & PR
We work closely with a number of local and national publications, event organisers and community publications to promote our holiday cottages. We focus on generating PR, and getting editorial or advertorial into publications. We’re always on the lookout ways to promote your holiday cottage!
We also advertise in the areas where our holiday cottages are located, to ensure that holiday makers are aware of us. Some of our staff drive branded cars, and we often place signs or banners in key positions.
Local shows and events
We often attend local and county shows, which is a great way to meet holiday makers and chat about our holiday cottages. We have high quality displays, and branded materials for people to take away with them.
