Description
Gardeners Cottage is surrounded by stunning countryside, yet only one mile from the coast and a short walk downhill to a well-known Exmoor pub. This cute, cosy cottage, which provides a home-from-home for two people plus their two dogs, is less than half a mile from Hunter’s Inn – one of the area’s most famous character inns situated in the stunning Heddon Valley. Offering spacious accommodation, Gardeners Cottage is one of only three cottages situated down a private drive near Martinhoe, a small village between Combe Martin and Lynton. A covered front patio leads directly into the open-plan lounge/diner which has comfy leather settees and a feature fireplace. The well-equipped kitchen has an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge and slimline dishwasher and is perfect for rustling up a delicious holiday meal. A spacious bedroom at the front of the cottage has a zip “n” link bed which can be a king or twin on request to provide alternative sleeping arrangements and there is a large en-suite bathroom with a separate shower cubicle. Gardeners Cottage is true paradise for nature lovers. Surrounded by lush green countryside, there are numerous footpaths taking you along the river, through wooden valleys and towards Heddons Mouth. The National Trust specifically promotes a walk through ancient woodland alongside the River Heddon, to where it meets the sea between some of England's highest cliffs. Designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest, the Heddon Valley is home to a variety of wildlife including otters and the rare high brown fritillary butterfly. You'll also find a restored 19th-century lime kiln on the beach. A ten-minute walk downhill takes you to the Hunters Inn where you will not only be able to taste the best in local cuisine, but will be able to wander through the immaculate gardens.
