If beautiful scenery, boats bobbing on the water and beach walks interest you, then check out our Appledore and Instow cottages. In 1830 a local estate agent described the area as "commanding an extensive view of the sea and of the rivers Taw and Torridge, with the surrounding picturesque scenery...... Appledore and Instow possess all the advantages of Town and Country, being half way between Bideford and Barnstaple". We still couldn't agree more and the same principles which attracted purchasers and visitors in the 19th century are as relevant today. The area is so pretty, full of quirky harbours and villages and convenient for being able to visit North Devon and North Cornwall. A stay here could allow you to sample the best of each area so here are a couple of suggested holiday homes for you.
Driftwood is a tastefully presented former boathouse conversion, only a few minutes walk from this world renowned quaint harbour. A practical storage area for your surfboard or bike, mean outdoor activities will be easy to enjoy.
Cockle Cottage, in the quirkily named "One End Street", immediately tells you that this quaint dwelling is close to the sea, in fact it is only 100 yds away. Pedestrian access only means peace and quiet prevails and as you are right in the heart of the village, you can meander through the lanes, filled with unique shops and chandlers. This delightful cottage has a sunny courtyard and allows a pet to come along too.
Stars Cove, is romantically named and offers views to the estuary from its large picture windows and balcony. This modern apartment is very well presented and couldn't be in a better location for enjoying all that Instow offers.
Dune View is a stones throw from the sandy beach at Instow and therefore a very popular choice with North Devon Holiday Cottages guests. The master bedroom has sea views and 2 pets are allowed, which makes this the perfect get away retreat for many.
